Paraphrasing

PLATO : BEAUTY IS AN "IDEA"

Some of Plato and Aristotle's idea can be connected to art and aesthetics in spite of the fact that neither of them developed a theory in art. Essential concepts like form and content were first presented by Plato and Aristotle, especially in their discussion on imitation (mimesis). But these two philosophers have many differences in their ideas and one example of these  is that Plato believed that imitation should be mostly concerned with ideas that govern the universe and are shown in the order, harmony, and balance of the world.

HOSTILITY TO ART

For Plato, Philosophy seeks for knowledge. Art works are delusive and untruthful that is why it is prohibited from the society as Plato visualized. He also believed that "order in the universe is a matter of rational thought since it is based on mathematical principles." Nevertheless, Plato was a solid foundation of the western idea of art and also an important model for the discussion in art . Intriguingly, Plato didn't expect that artists would have the ability to explain and understand such "divine ideas".
